Arlington North Rotary will purchase a minimum of 1104, but upto 1200 dictionaries from The Dictionary project at a cost of $3.00 a piece to provide to local third graders at 10 Elementary schools we support in North Arlington. The dictionaries give third graders a resource at home to help with spelling and grammar for school. Several of the schools we supply dictionaries to are classified as Title 1 schools and have high rates of economically disadvantaged students that may not have access to online study resources at home. In the fall of 2019 sometime after the 1st six weeks of school we will get a exact # of third grade students from each of the following Elementary schools in AISD: Butler, Webb, Larson, Pope, Ellis, Peach, Jones Language Academy, Speer, Wimbish World Language Academy, and Sherrod, then we will order dictionaries in late October to early November 2019 to be handed out to the schools by multiple members in our club. Last year our club spent $3456 on dictionaries which was 1152 dictionaries. We are using a low # of 1104 for the grant but our club will cover the overage cost so all third graders are covered if more then 1104 are needed.
