Food Pantry

History Logs

Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Centerville

Total Budget: $2,000

Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Economic and community development

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: Volunteer Services

Summary: Taking over and improving the local food pantry

The local food pantry is not being fully utilized due to lack of volunteers and poor location. The current location is in a basement that is hard to access for many people and with only one main volunteer there are no regular hours for people to take advantage of the pantry. The Rotary club's plan is to move the pantry to a better location and the entire club will take turns volunteering with regular weekly hours. The project will require paint, carpet, shelving, small heating and air conditioning units and a freezer. The club members will donate as much work labor as possible and will be donating time to work at the pantry from here on out. The plan is to have the pantry up and running at full capacity by the end of 2019.
