This project will be performed through five components:
1- Family Circles: These are groups of 10 to 15 families - with children between 0 and 3 years olds, who meet two times weekly to share experiences, learn and practices different early stimulation technics with their children. These Circles are guided by a Community Family Educator, who shares with parents about different technics and activities they can promote with their children to promote their development and intellectual stimulation; besides they learn how to build educational toys from recycled materials, which can easily found at their community. Also, they are all motivated to use these toys and technics daily with their children. Parents are also informed about topics related to children health and nutrition, the importance of breastfeeding and secure attachment, making conscious of children rights, responsible parenthood, importance of education and warm, nutrient, and harmonic relationships, practice of values, violence prevention, peace culture, between other topics, looking forward to promoting a safe, healthy, full of love family environment, where children can fully develop.
2- Health Education. Families with be sensitized on the importance of preconception counseling, prematurity and disabilities prevention, women self care, mother and newborn health care, delivery preparation, breastfeeding and sage attachment importance, men's role during pregnancy, delivery and newborn care, sexual and reproductive rights, prevention of unwanted and youth pregnancy, inclusion of disabled people, chronic diseases prevention, climate change, circular economy, water and other natural sources care, between other topics with families participating, mainly childbearing age women, men and youth.
3- Women and children Healthcare: It will be guaranteed that families participating in this project will receive prenatal and children timely healthcare through the Community Health Clinics at the impact areas. Besides, OEF will provide complementary healthcare services on preconception counseling, PAP smears, early detection of breast and cervix cancer, vaccines and contraceptive counseling.
1- Environment care and Food production:: It will be promoted active and protagonist participation of families and communities on environmental care - cleaning campaigns, recycling, and reforestation, use of recycling bags, separating garbage, family compost, between other actions-. Trees planting will be done at deforested community areas and/or areas near to the community water sources. Also, trees will be selected from those native species and/or trees under extinction danger which are adequate according to each community. It will be promoted that families participating in different activities take responsibility for at least one tree, name it on one family member and take care of it until it grows. Besides, families under critical conditions - with malnourished and or disables children- will be supported to produce their own food -raise chicken and produce eggs- to improve their family nutrition, as much as family economy, through the sale of part of the production.
4- Community participation: As a mainstay for the project's success, the whole community and local stakeholders who are already participating are involved in the actions, supporting the different activities. Each community has a Health Committee, formed by leaders who are committed to improving their community health conditions, and who are trained and OEF promotes their participation on national or international events.
Then, this project will benefit 6900 families, mainly women and children, who live under poverty or extreme poverty conditions from 6 rural communities -4 at Chalatenango and 2 at Usulutan- and 31 community leaders.
