The Phoenix Police Department's Communication Center receives dispatch and emergency calls. The center's operators receive calls that are extremely traumatic such as child drownings, officer-involved shootings, domestic violence, wrong-way drivers, and so forth. The leadership at the PPD have asked for a place where the operators can retreat to in order to regain their composure and find comfort following these situations. The PPD has dedicated a 7' x 18' room in their facility that they would like to house this calming room.
The project funds will be used to purchase all of the items in this room, to replace the flooring, improve the lighting, all in order to create a peaceful envirnoment for the call operators. The project will be started in late August 2019 and completed in September 2019 in conjunction with the International Day of Peace on the 21st.
Nine clubs are participating in this project: e-Club of Arizona, Glendale West, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Peoria North, Phoenix Rotary 100, Sun City, Sun City West, and Surprise.
