In 2016 the State of Arizona donated an 8,000 square foot building to the Veterans Thrift Store, a 501C3 non profit serving Veterans and their families with medical supplies and living needs at no cost.
As the building had been abandoned, it was not up to code for safety and structural requirements. Over the last 2 years, all repairs and safety issues have been addressed and we are ready to open. The problem is this building is lacking insulation causing inside temperatures to rise well above 110 degrees during summer months. We want to remain open 12 months to serve our Veterans, but the stifling heat will keep shoppers away.
By installing insulation in the ceiling areas, it will enable our staff and volunteers to work in an environment that is relaxed and our shoppers are equally comfortable.
Product installation will be a 2-3 day process as the ceilings are high and merchandise will need to be moved from side to side as it is put in.
Estimated date to start 9/3/19.
Estimated date to finish 9/6/19.
The long term affects are measurable by simply being able to stay open in the summer months, giving us additional revenue to continue our 5 year strategic plan of additional services for our Veterans.
The Veterans Thrift will begin the process of tracking the number of patrons that visit the store after the Grand Opening September 28, 2019. The following summer of 2020 will set bench marks for upcoming seasons.
Rotarians can be beneficial during installation time with assisting in moving merchandise while product is being installed. Approximately 12 Rotarians will be joining us on installation day.
