Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Provision/purchase truck lift gate for Crisis Center for South Suburbia needed to safely load donated heavy weight items

The Crisis Center of South Suburbia in Tinley Park is in dire need of lift gate for the truck they use to collect donated items. The truck is currently 3-1/2 feet off the ground making it very challenging to safely lift and load items. The truck is used to transport donations of clothing and household goods, pick up donated furniture for clients moving into their own apartments or into their Transitional Housing apartments. They have secured 3 bids for the purchase and install. We would co-sponsor funding for a portion of the lift, and assist in securing additional funds from other partners outside of Rotary. The target completion for this project is December 2019. 5 Rotarians will participate in these activities, benefiting over 100 non-Rotarians involved in providing and receiving services through CCSS.
