Craig Rotary is partnering with the Craig Press to put a Kids Scoop fun educational page in the newspaper every Wednesday. The numerous copies of the paper will be delivered to all three elementary schools and the local Library every Wednesday during the school year and just the library during the summer.
Kid Scoop has a range of fun educational activities for students including word searches, puzzles, riddles and craft ideas. We are going to concentrate on K-5 and the teachers are planning on having activities most Wednesdays tied in with the page. Use of the newspaper in the classroom provides learning opportunities for all the K-5 grades.
In addition to helping kids see how entertaining reading and learning can be, Kid Scoop
provides an avenue for the newspaper & Rotary to get more involved in all grades at the three elementary schools.
Rotary is planning on having monthly fun time at the local library as well. Once a month two or three Rotarians will meet with kids to go over the Kid Scoop, provide treats and and read with them at the library.
We have Book Buddies for 2nd graders and passport to reading for 4th & 5th graders but wanted to find a way to help all the grades at the elementary level and feel this will be a great way to do it.
