Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Preston, ID

Total Budget: $10,000

Areas of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene, Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation

Summary: Contribute to the construction of a public restroom facility in Preston, ID

The club proposes to contribute approx 20% of the estimated cost for the City of Preston to build a 936 square foot 10 stall (5 women and 5 men) ADA compliant restroom on city park property contiguous to the Franklin County Fairgrounds. See a breakdown of costs in the documents portion of this application. The restrooms will be located at the Northeastern corner of the City property and will have the ability to facilitate public events within the city park (baseball, soccer, etc.) and events located at the adjacent Franklin County Fairgrounds (County fair, Rotary fireworks, Preston rodeo, Elks demolition derby, etc.).

The estimated cost of the project is $50,600, not including the value of volunteer labor. Each of the four area service clubs has been asked to contribute $10,000 to the project. As part of the recognition for our club's participation the city will place the Rotary Emblem on the restrooms and on the City Hall building. The City is estimating the project to be completed by the end of summer 2019.

Rotarians will provide volunteer labor to the project.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

It is to be noted that the club anticipates donating an estimated 50 hours of service towards the project amongst multiple volunteers to assist in the painting and landscaping portions of the project.

Your grant application says that Rotarians will provide volunteer labor to the public restroom project. The Rotary Foundation requires “active Rotarian involvement” in grant projects. Can you be more specific about how many Rotarians will volunteer and what they will be doing? Please write an addendum to the application providing this information. On the administration side of the description tab, click edit project page & write an addendum to the project in the box provided before June 25, 2019.

TRF approved the district block grant on 7/9/19. The district received more requests for DDF than money available requiring that cuts be made in funding. Your project is reduced to $4000 of DDF. Clubs in tier 3 are expected to make up the difference in the project financing. We have cancelled the signature process and adjusted the financing to reflect this. To confirm your intention of continuing with the project, please send it again for signatures on the admin side of the description tab. Questions? Need help? Contact District Grants Chair Ines Crespo, 208 320-8494.

This is a reminder that you have a report due May 15, 2020 on this project. If not your final report, then write & send a brief history log indicating the % completion of the project and the estimated end date. Late reports on open grants can affect your eligibility for a 2020-21 grant.

This is a supplement to the history log submitted on 4/17/2020 by Craig Conklin. The estimated completion percentage of the bathroom project at this time is 20%. We will not be filing a final report by 5/15/2020 as it will not be completed by that date. As a result of the recent COVID-19 pandemic the estimated completion date is 8/31/2020.
