Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Worth Total Budget: $1,584 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide dictionaries to 3rd Graders to 6 Fort Worth ISD schools. Students do not have ready access to the internet as selected schools are in the poverty status of the Fort Worth ISD. A number of students are of Mexican descent with Spanish being their primary language - English dictionaries will allow a number of students to learn English as their second language. Those that are already English proficient the dictionary will allow a better understanding of the English languages and better prepare them for schooling after the 3rd Grade. Total funding will be divided between RI and the Fort Worth Southwest Club 50/50. Rotarian's will affix a Rotary label to each book reflecting the 4 Way Test - with instructions on how to use the dictionary.
