Project Description Country: USA Location: Sedona, AZ Total Budget: $4,000 Areas of Focus: Maternal and child health, Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation Summary: This project would construct a solid roof to cover the patio constructed in FY19 as part of the newly developed Healing Garden for the domestic violence shelter backyard renovation project supported by three Rotray Clubs in Sedona and the Verde Valley In March 2019, the Verde Valley Sanctuary completed the Healing Garden in the backyard of the Shelter. The space has been transformed into a relaxing multi-use living area. The response from the clients and staff has been remarkable. Every day this new garden space is providing a place for residents and their children to share, unwind, breathe in fresh air and get rejuvenated. The patio seating area has been more popular than anticipated and requires a solid roof to cover it to make it an all season space. The roof will connect to the existing patio area of the shelter and an outdoor paddle fan and soft lighting for evenings will be installed. The roof will double the common living space and further enhance the usability of the backyard space. Funding for $2000 has been obtained from Just A Penny Please and with our contribution of $4000, sufficient funds will be in hand to complete the project immediately.
