Project Description Country: USA Location: Chandler, AZ Total Budget: $1,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Chandler, AZ Many students do not have access to technology or resources to help them with their academic endeavors. In third grade, as students transition from "learning to read" to "reading to learn," dictionaries provide useful classroom tools for new words, plus tables and references of math, sign language, history, geography, chemistry and astronomy. Dictionaries can be used during merit testing to improve scores. Teachers and students love the program. Dictionaries are ordered in September, labeled in October and presented to the students in November. This project provides a personal dictionary to each 3rd grade student in Chandler. We partner with the Chandler Noon Club and the Sun Lakes Clubs to cover of the 3rd grade students.
