Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Total Budget: $20,000

Area of Focus: Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General

Summary: Anchorage

Last year Hillside Rotary, with the help of district grants, provided a mixer and packaging equipment for Children's Lunchbox. This year we would like to follow up by providing the equivalent of a semester of food for weekend food bags for students at one elementary school through Children's Lunchbox. This would provide the students with a bag of shelf-stable food to take home every weekend when kids don't have access to free school lunch and breakfast. This food helps ensure that students are nourished over the weekend and come to school on Monday focused and ready to learn. Hillside Rotary would purchase the food items needed and deliver them to Children's Lunchbox over the course of the year as needed.
