The District 5440 Regional Student College Scholarship competition is designed to encourage promising students to follow their educational dreams along the lines of Rotary International's Areas of Focus. By providing these scholarships, the District fosters the development of an intelligent and educated workforce that will further Rotary's objectives. The Cody Rotary Club, as part of the Western Wyoming region, is pleased to nominate Miss Claire Pfister, a Cody High School senior, for this award. Claire is an extremely well-rounded individual: she is ranked first in her class of 118, with a 4.00 GPA/4.258 weighted GPA and exemplifies service over self through her volunteering activities. Due to a change in the Cody Club's Scholarship Chairman this year, the club did not receive the 2019 topic for the district scholarship competition. Instead, the committee put forth the 2018 topic for the district scholarship. Miss Pfister's original essay, "Application of the 4-Way Test in My Life" addresses how all aspects of her life at her dance studio illustrates the 4-Way Test in action in a well thought out and written treatise.
The District 5440 Scholarship Committee will review all district applications and will notify individual clubs if their student applicants are successful in winning a scholarship. If successful, the Cody Rotary Club will be prepared to announce Miss Pfister's award at Cody High School's Awards night in mid-May. The funds would then be provided to the student or her selected school. The Cody Rotary Club will submit a report on the student scholarship along with any receipts.
