YMEN of Chicago, (http://ymenchicago.com/) an organization that is designed to revitalize and create sustainable leadership in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago. This is being accomplished through intense mentoring of area youth. To assist with this goal, YMEN is in need of a computer server to connect its individual computers in its educational learning facility.
YMEN has succeeded over its 23 year history in achieving an 88% high school graduation rate for its students versus a 35% rate for the neighborhood; and a 35% college graduation rate versus 3% for the neighborhood.
Education success is a primary goal of the YMEN organization. It is is also dedicated to its mission of not only educating the young people of the neighborhood, but also to keeping them int the neighborhood to serve as the future leaders of the area.
Hinsdale Rotary is active with YMEN and asks that the $1,840 District Grant Allocation for 2019-2020 be dedicated to this project. In discussion with Gov. Pedro Cevallos-Candau, we plan to partner with Chicago Rotary One on this project.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
We successfully completed our purchase of the YMEN computer server. However, our cost came in lower than expected do to the server vendor negotiating a much lower than anticipated price. Our total spend came in at $1562.23.
However, rather that return the difference of the cost along with the matching expenditures for the server, I would like to propose that we repurpose the remaining funds for the Annual Hinsdale Rotary Foundation High School scholarship fund that is distributed each spring to graduating Hinsdale Central High School seniors in need. These Hinsdale Rotary Foundation scholarships can be used for either collegiate tuitions or vocational training courses. The Hinsdale Rotary Foundation usually makes over $12,000 in these contributions and plan on doing so again this May.
If we are able to use the excess from the YMEN server grant and apply and match it with our scholarship fund work this spring, that would be an excellent outcome.
Please let me know if this is a satisfactory solution to this situation.
