Summary: An evening of peace building will be provided in the Little Village community

Lighting with Peace - Little Village. The Rotary-sponsored event will bring youth and families from the community together to participate in an evening of peace-building. Members of Padres Angeles of St. Agnes of Bohemia Church and volunteers will walk around the community with electric candles. Children and families will be accompanying us, singing songs of peace. We will then have a peace circle in the church gym. Participants will talk about what peace means to them and strategies to promote peace in their homes. After the peace circle, Rotarians will provide food and art supplies for the children. The children will write peaceful messages inside paper doves that will then be put up in a tree inside the gym - a Peace tree. Finally, the Rotarians will facilitate a discussion about immigrants and refugees and how we need to treat them with respect and empathy and how we can make them feel welcome here. We will also have piñatas for the children.
