Summary: To build basic, sturdy houses for needy families in colonias of Tijuana, Mexico
Inadequate housing in outlying colonies near Tijuana harbor health hazards year around including; rats and other vermin, poor construction that is too hot in summer and too cold in winter, no running water or adequate sanitation facilities.
This grant will provide a family with a clean, safe house that will give them a better life. A latrine will also be constructed. The family, is in turn, required to help other families when their turn comes to build their house. This promotes community service and cooperation.
Rotary members will help raise the house, paint it, bring food and small items to help furnish the house. They will interact with the family and the community to promote good will and friendship as well.
