THIS GRANT APPLICATION IS FOR PHASE 1

The Parking Lot and Entrances-PHASE 1:

The plan provides an entry to the Park from both Blue Mound Street and Grayson Street. Pipe Rail entry gates shown will enable the Park to be closed to vehicle traffic at night. 30 standard parking spaces and 2 handicap spaces are provided in Phase 1.

The parking lots are to be gravel base surface without curbs or concrete paving. This will enable construction of a firm surface initially to park vehicles, and provide a stable sub-surface to pave the lots in the future.

After completion of the parking construction, the path of the trail will be mowed enabling use of the earth trail initially. The initial phase will be completed in 2018-19 Rotary year.

Use of Grant Funds:

The initial grant application is for construction of the gravel parking lot, entry gates, and mowing of the trail. This $5,770 project cost is possible with the City donating the equipment and labor for parking lot construction plus trail mowing and Rotary paying for the gravel material. The pipe rail fencing material is donated and the labor to install the fence will be done with community & student volunteers.

Progress to Date:

The 22+ acre site has been donated and deeded to the City of Nocona. Additionally, the Gazebo shelter has been constructed at the top of the Blue Mount Hill.
