Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $1,000 Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Buy special library books to help students make better life choices for: career, health, financial and educational needs, in San Diego, CA. Middle schools students at Rancho Bernardo Middle School need books that improve their knowledge of the everyday life choices ahead of them. The library has no money for this type of reading material. Books purchased will be hard-backed, and cover a wide variety of subjects, including: history, engineering, manufacturing, sports, the arts, theater, communication, the internet, the military, government, construction, medicine, personal planning, law, and many more. The $1000 request buys about 50 books, written suitably for 6th-8th graders from varied backgrounds. The books are presented to our lunch speaker at the end of his/her presentation, for their signature on a Four-Way Test label we past on the inside cover. Tying the speaker's topic to the title of the book, gives great pleasure and humor to all club members every week. Later, books are presented to the Bernardo Heights Middle School librarian. We request the funds be available by early November, 2018.
