Project Description Country: USA Location: Lewisville. TX Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Purchase dictionaries for 3rd Graders in 11 Lewisville ISD Title I Elementary Schools in Lewisville ISD Identified Needs: Students at several campuses in Lewisville ISD are English Language Learners who come form high poverty homes. Many students do not have access to technology or resources to assist them in their educational endeavors Project Rationale: The project will ensure that students have access to a resource to aid in the English language development, Spanish language development, and content knowledge of 3rd grade TEKS Timeline: Upon receipt of the grant, dictionaries will be purchased and distributed in the Fall of 2018. Club members will label all dictionaries, deliver to 3rd grade classes, present to 3rd graders about the importance of literacy for college and career readiness.
