Summary: Rotarians will assist in building a home for a need family in the very poor area of East Tijuana, Mexico
The primary goal of Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency, is to help improve the basic living standards and quality of life for destitute families in the colonias east of Tijuana, Mexico. Recognizing the extreme need to alleviate the health hazards incurred by poor makeshift housing which invite rodents, respiratory and bronchial ailments and unsanitary conditions, they have organized a means with the financial and hands-on help of organizations such as Rotary to address this basic need by building homes for designated needy families.
The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has proudly participated in this endeavor for several years now and the moment we complete the home and hand over the keys to a well deserving family, we reiterate our commitment and enthusiasm to do it again. We are excited that this year on October 6, 2018 the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Bonsall have joined our efforts by supporting the project not only financially but will be helping build the home with hammer and paint brushes in hand. The Interact Clubs and the Francis Parker High School are also committed to helping.
The cost of the material for one house is $5,500 and an additional $800 for an outhouse for a total of $6,300. The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has pledged $1,650, and The Village Rotary Club has pledged $1.000 to purchase the materials and would respectfully like District matching funds to help with the matching $2,650. The Rotary Club of Bonsall has pledged to complete the necessary funds by pledging $1,000.
This is an opportunity for fellow Rotarians, future Rotarians, families of all sizes and ages to come together for one day and truly live the motto of "Service Above Self".
