Stichers of Hope is a local group of women in Fountain Hills that sew washable menstrual hygiene kits, dresses for girls, shorts for young boys and beanie hats that are distributed to five African Countries by missionaries. In 2018, the group has already produced over 500 garments that were forwarded through the missionary network. The group is totally funded through donations.
This Grant will fund the purchase of a self threading serger, 2 sewing machines and various fabrics for the group. The sewing equipment will replace existing machines that are old and inefficient. The fabric will augment the production process.
The Fountain Hills Rotary Club has assisted the Stichers with funding and logistical support for the past 2 years. Wives of Rotarians work with the group on a weekly basis.
