Project Description Country: USA Location: Irvine Total Budget: $4,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Packing backpacks for low income student in Irvine schools Each backpack is filled with essential school supplies for each student. We feel that the project provides these students with the support that they may not otherwise have due to their socio-economic positions. Each student will have the confidence to begin the school year and succeed. Members participate in the assembly of the backpacks at a Club meeting. There is also the opportunity to attend the delivery event at the Boys and Girls Club. Rotary members will hand out the filled backpacks to each student. The Irvine Rotary Club will work directly with the Boys and Girls Club to distribute the backpacks. The Boys and Girls Club invite media to the distribution event. Broad exposure is expected from our participation.
