Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Boise

Total Budget: $2,120

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: United States

The Treasure Valley Family YMCA (the Y) requests a grant of $2120 from the Boise Southwest Rotary Club to support the Make a Splash program at Whittier Elementary School. Specifically the funding will provide transportation to and from the Y, swimming lessons for approximately 75 3rd graders. Idaho has the second highest per capita rate of drowning in the US. Teaching our youth to swim is critical in reducing drowning casualties. This program targets children of low income families who might not otherwise be able to afford swim lessons.

To be complete and eligible for consideration, your grant application must be signed no later than June 1. To initiate this process, go into your grant. On the administration side of the description tab, click on “start club signature process”. On the next page, check only the names of the primary contact person and the 2018-19 club president, then click “Send application for signatures”. You’ll both receive an email with instructions for activating your electronic signature. Do what it says. Until the history logs in the matching grants system indicate that both people have signed, your application is not finished. Be sure to follow through!

TRF approved the district block grant on 7/14/18. The district received more requests for DDF than money available requiring that cuts be made in funding. Your project is reduced to $500 of DDF due to a late report on last year’s grant and late submission of this application. We have cancelled the signature process and adjusted the financing to reflect this. To confirm your intention of continuing with the project, please send it again for signatures on the admin side of the description tab. Questions? Need help? Contact District Grants Chair Ines Crespo, 208 320-8494 or DRFC Marianne Barker, 208 308-5617.

Project complete. Boise SW boosted its contribution so that the total was $6500.

I have audited this project and I do not approve it. Total Expenses needs to match Total Revenues of $6,500. Change Total Expenses to $6,500 and remove "x $77/child" so you can match expenses and revenues. Also, you show the uploaded YMCA Letter which is a second copy of the check YMCA. Upload the YMCA Letter.

Eric -- Your final report indicates that the Rotarian involvement in the project was only one person. This does not meet the intent of "active Rotarian involvement" required by The Rotary Foundation. You could provide a brief description of other activities your club does with the students at Whittier and how many Rotarians are involved, in order to plump up this aspect of grant requirements. Thank you! Deadline for completed reports is May 15, 2019. After revising & uploading your report, click "reported" on the administration side of the description tab.

This is a reminder that you were asked to provide more information in your final report regarding Rotarian involvement with Whittier School. The deadline for your corrected report is May 15, 2019. Delinquent reports may impact your club's ability to get a grant in 2019-20. Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter.
