Areas of Focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, Basic education and literacy, Economic and community development
Summary: Our Club will sponsor a diverse group of high school students to attend District 6450 RYLA in October, 2018
This year we plan to sponsor ten teens to attend the District 6450 RYLA, held October 5 - 8 in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. We are especially excited that our group will comprise our two youth exchange students, Interact members from our own community and (new this year) students from under-resourced areas in Chicago. We believe all the students will benefit from the education, leadership and conflict resolution skills taught and pracxticed at RYLA. Our ability to bring in students from Chicago neighborhoods experiencing extreme violence gives us hope that we might also be addressing "peace and conflict prevention" by helping these students in particular grow into community leaders. By bringing together local, global and Chicago students to this weekend, we believe we are offering a truly "Rotary" experience.
This project is "Approved". This means that the district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Once the funds from the district have been issued, the status of the project will be changed to "Paid".
Project listed for the 2018-19 Rotary Year.
