Summary: Support to expand Wastewater treatment system for 22 ~ homes in Old Sagay

Typhoon Yolanda (2013) decimated the communities in the Philippines. This specific project is providing an expansion to a current wastewater treatment system for a village being built by iHomes (Bacolod) for 22 homes. They currently have a system for eight homes, but plans to expand. Together with Rotary clubs from Australia and the Philippines we will work to financially support local efforts to expand the current system and travel to provide onsite assistance January 2019.

Implementation of this project stalled when the project coordinator unexpectedly resigned from Rotary. I have volunteered to help implement the project. I have contacted the project coordinator in the Philippines for advice on transferring the funds and installing the water projects.

Correction to last history log: The former committee chair resigned as chair of the committee but is still a member of our club. Carrying out the committee's planned project stalled until a new member was identified to continue the committee's work. The committee is now in contact with the iHomes contact in the Philippines and discussions are ongoing to finance water treatment systems for the next homes under construction and transfer the funds to the Philippines.

The local project sponsors are hard at work to complete the project. A project volunteer organization with an assignment to complete a portion of the construction did the work incorrectly and the work could not be merged into the construction work being done by the local sponsor. In addition the local sponsor decided to expand the project size. So the project is still in progress. We receive monthly reports and photos and are confident that the work is ongoing. The local sponsors understand the sense of urgency on our part.

Project manager reported this week that the last and final phase of the drainage is almost done and installation/connection of CWTS to the Cistern would soon be ready == everything should be fully functional in a month or less.
