This project involves the construction of a gazebo at a recently completed dog park in the city of Soldotna, Alaska. The park is the only of it's kind in the area that allows dogs to run and exercise off-leash in a secure location. The park was made possible by local volunteers and a bequest for that purpose in an individual's estate plan.
The next step is to establish a gazebo for shelter and small gatherings for pet owners. This project has large support in the community and has involved the core group that set up the park, the City of Soldotna parks department, the local realtors association, and other volunteers. The project will be professionally managed by the city for no cost, and each group identified has pledged a financial contribution.
The grant funds pay for materials, however all labor will be donated, and will involve Rotarians in the Soldotna club constructing the structure after the foundation/base is installed.
